Our Story
My name is Corey, and I have long held a dream of launching my own business. Establishing an online presence marks the first step toward realizing my vision of operating a small mobile pop-up café that showcases the delightful treats I create.
About My Background
I bring nearly 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked across diverse environments ranging from casual cafés to high-end restaurants. Throughout this journey, my passion for desserts and confections has blossomed. I began my apprenticeship just before turning 18 and obtained my qualification by age 21 while gaining invaluable knowledge as I transitioned through various establishments. I've had the honor of collaborating with outstanding head chefs and skilled kitchen teams.
In 2021, I pursued a second apprenticeship specializing in patisserie, which deepened my enthusiasm further and provided me with new skills along with insights into sweets and baked goods.
The Birth Of Oh Sugar
Fast forward to 2025: encouraged by my partner Bianca to pursue these aspirations wholeheartedly, I took a significant leap towards achieving this ultimate goal by founding "Oh Sugar," a modest home-based bakery and sweet shop. Every product is made fresh upon order using only premium ingredients. Our aim at Oh Sugar is to introduce customers to distinctive flavor combinations they may not typically consider—an endeavor supported by Bianca’s creative input on flavor pairings and innovative ideas.
The offerings at Oh Sugar will feature an exquisite blend of both bold and subtle flavors, all meticulously presented in quality packaging designed with care.
Currently available online as well as at Syd's IGA located within Shorewell Plaza in Burnie, we also aspire to make appearances at local markets over the next few months.
